Easy-Peasy: 2 Observations from the Warriors' Game 20 Win Over the Pelicans (15-5)

The Warriors throw waves at you
I’d mentioned earlier in the season that the Warriors depth would allow them to rest and sit-out slightly injured players whenever they need to because they have legit NBA starters or potential starters littering their bench. This works really well especially against lesser teams. The Bulls, obviously. The Pelicans as well.

Last season the Dubs played without Kevin Durant for that long stretch when he had his leg injury, so it’s no surprise they still function well with him sitting out. However the Warriors have even more waves of players to throw at you. The don’t just look whole without KD, they look better than whole. That’s scary for the rest of the league.

No team will win with Boogie Cousins
Demarcus Cousins is an all-world talent, but from what I’ve seen, he negatively impacts so many parts of a game in terms of techs, attitude and chemistry, that I can’t see him leading a team the promised land. I’m sure his teammates love playing with him and that on a personal level he’s a great guy, but on the court, he’d have to be 2nd or 3rd banana.

Anthony Davis, because of the Kentucky connection, his age and his personality, appears to defer to Boogie or at least treat him as an equal. That’s not going to work. I actually like that team, so I hope they can put something together, but the jury’s still out.
